win 7 uac question

My old pc had xp and I was told it's safer to use a standard user account for day to day usages and password protect the admin account.

Is that still the case with win 7? I'm I safe to use an admin account as a main account? I'd rather not turn uac off.

I'm trying to get task scheduler run speedfan at startup on a standard user account and its not working. Not found if there is a way around the uac yet.

It's safe if the user is a member of the Administrators group and UAC is turned on.

With UAC on, your admin account is actually both. It elevates when you confirm the UAC prompt.
