Win 7 user profile and data

What is the best way to move a user from Win 7 to Win 10 as Easy Transfer is no longer available.

I have a laptop that is probably going to need a new disk. At the moment W7 keeps rebooting and 10 won't do an upgrade as such, only a clean install. I need to keep the user data.

FYI not my laptop and no, the user doesn't have backup - friend of a friend ;-)

Insert the Windows 10 boot disk/USB, boot to it, and select the upgrade option in the installation stage?

What sort of user data do you need? Documents, pictures, music, videos, etc? Programs as well?

As I said, W10 is not offering an upgrade.

C:\Users, copy files off and copy them back?

I'm surprised it is not offering an upgrade option in setup.

Where did you get the Windows 10 ISO from?

Copy their user profile to a ext hdd, then dump it back over once W10 setup.

ISO was created from my main PC and use a couple of times, I'll have a closer look at what's going on tomorrow.
