I use to max out this on Vista, but since I upgraded to Win 7 my results seem quite low, is this because the overrall requirement has gone up or because of Win 7 itself (I thought it supposedly ran quicker than Vista so this cant be ths case?)

Q9950 2.83 quad core
8 gig ram
XFX ATI 4870x2 2gig
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB

everything bar the HD Floats at around 7.1/7.3 - but the HD seems really low scoring 5.9 - it use to score far higher on VISTA

anyone else experience this?

Happy xmas btw :)

your drive score wasn't higher on vista. the maximum was 5.9 for everything. and that's the maximum HDD score you'll get on windows 7 with a bog standard SATA drive.

In Win 7, it seems you need an SSD to score > 5.9, and even with a single SSD you may not get 7.9, but 2 x SSDs (Intel 80GB X-25 M G2s) in RAID0 will give that score...

I think the w7 experience score is a bit iffy tbh. For example my X3 720 is rated at 6.9@3ghz, but no matter how far I overclock it's still rated at 6.9. So from that I assume you need quad core to get over 7, HDD's are probably the same, as jbloggs says you need SSD to get over a 5.9 rating on any drive, when in reality it's praps higher, especially using RAID. I tend to ignore the experience index rating, my 2x Seagate 250gig drives copy to eachother at 70meg/second which I still find quick as games load almost instantly. Also my 5770 is rated at 7.4 for Aero and gaming graphics, but my 4850 was rated at 7.3 and got less than half the framerates in some games.
