I'm happy with 7100 (until my pre-order comes!). However, should i upgrade (or fresh install) to 7600, will the same key work etc?

Cheers

no the key won't work, you can't activate the 7600 build until you get a proper key

i'm sticking with 7100 until the retail copy arrives at my door

so far I have 7600 on one pc and 7264 on another. Can't tell a difference between them. In fact someone said 7600 had dream scenes but I don't see them anywhere. Was the main reason I put it on the 2nd pc.

I thought about going from 7100 to 7600 but will stick where I am as I know that as soon as I put 7600 on another one will pop up, or they will move to 7600 or something lol.

Only a few months to go, can't wait.

7100 is fine, but I did find 7264 slightly less buggy for certain programs and it seems to work faster.

Are microsoft releasing any updates for win 7 yet?

Updates as in fixes and such? Only in the different builds, Windows Update only really offers updates to things like Defender Definations. So until the retail version is out, that's all you'll likely get.

7232 for x64 to my knowledge. Moved from 7232 to 7264 when I installed my SSD and it wouldn't accept the RC keys, so you can't activate it. 7232 does and you can.

Okay I take my original comment on here back. 7600 build is way better. Most of the apps that I had to run in compatibility mode no longer need it. My videos are no longer grainy, and games are running a lot smoother with higher fps. Can't explain it, but it's the truth. GTA IV looked absolutely terrible on 7264 and had to be installed in vista sp2 mode which may be why. Now it's crystal clear again! Worth it if you have the time imo.

Go 7232 64bit takes beta keys and runs out on i march 2010 Runs rather smoother than 7100 No probs with playing films etc but then I don't use media but VLC which comes with more codecs. don't of course use the browser but Firefox 3.5. 7232 is better than any of the preceeding MS Os
One will have an easy transition sometime after the 22 October when ones disks arrive with ones cheap preorder Windows 7

I just did 7229 to 7600 and it's running much better. Ati tray tools no longer spazzes out, I can vmware fusion and bootcamp the same system, etc.

Worth the update and the hassle of rearming it until release.

Is pro edition available to download? I can only find ultimate and if I installed that I would need to re-install with pro in October.

I must agree, it's defenatly worth it the hassle, rearming only takes a one command with cmd and a quick reboot.

Are you able to tell me how to do this? Does it involve waiting 30 days and then having another 30 days and repeating (3 times)?

Haven't tried it myself yet, but it may well prompt you to choose the edition during the install process, like Vista.
