Perhaps a Windows issue more than networking, but here goes :-

My NAS boxes are DLINK ReadyShares.

The PC can see them via direct IP

192.168.0.20
192.168.0.21
192.168.0.22
192.168.0.23

Are all seen just fine like that, but I cannot mount them as a Network drive?

I dont have this issue with XP, 7, or even 8.0 only 8.1

Surely its not me?

Please help.

Can't remember the fix off hand but we had what sounds to be a similar issue at work a while back. When we where rolling out Server 2008 (possibly 2008 R2) we couldn't browse to NAS shares. i.e. \\nas1\share\

From what I remember I think it was something to do with SMB versions and signing, or something along those lines. We had a temporary fix by changing something in the group policy (gpedit.msc), or via the registry but in the end the storage team updated the o/s on the NAS filers which meant we didn't need to do the fix on the servers.

Not a great help I know but might point you in the right direction. If I can find anything when back at work I'll try and post it.

Can you login via their web management page with Win 8.1? How are the IP's setup for the NAS's fixed IP, DHCP Reservation? Have you ever been able to access them from Win 8.1, could you have cached a bad password?
