WHY MICROSOFT WHY!!!!!!!

Just updated from a perfectly good install of Windows 7 on my rig, to see if Windows 8.1 was actually better than 8 this time around, after installation which all went well, i'm now blessed with the watermark Secure Boot isn't config correctly.

Gone into bios to enable Secure boot, reboot get some message about the graphics card not being Windows GOP something or other, and so has to disable the Secure boot to get back into windows.

I'm guessing there is no way to get rid of this watermark, unless secure boot is enabled in the bios which on my mobo I can't do because of my graphics card.

Why does Microsoft have to F things up all of the time :(

Err speak to your graphics card manufacturer to get a proper UEFI GOP compliant BIOS, how is this a Microsoft problem again?

Seriously pop XFX support an email to get them to send you over an updated vBIOS.

Come now... do you really think graphics card manufactures are going to start re-issuing compliant BIOS's because of this change?

It's Microsoft that has implemented the watermark; the simple solution is for them to provide a function to remove it. We've all survived so far without Secure Boot.

No-one forced you into installing Windows 8/8.1 in UEFI mode with unsupported hardware!

Simple solution, install Windows 8/8.1 in legacy BIOS mode, then you get no Secure Boot watermark (as secure boot isn't supported).

Windows 8 worked fine in UEFI mode with apparent 'incompatible' hardware without placing a Secure Boot is turned off watermark on the desktop.

I've neither installed nor read the release notes for 8.1, so I don't know if they make it clear that Secure Boot being enabled is now a requirement if you installed in UEFI mode. I suspect not given the number of people who have the issue.
