Win 8.1 washed out Start Screen for one user but not other

Have just installed Win 8.1 from 7 and all is running sweet after few hiccups with a USB Hub apart from a really odd issue.

On the Start Screen for my other half's profile all the icons are washed out compared to mine, this is particularly noticeable with the Office 365 icons when compared to the ones in mine which are vibrant and bright. The icons are the same ones for both and have not been changed.

It's really bugging me, any ideas????

If it helps I will try to put pics of the comparison later when back at home.

As you can see they are very different. Both profiles are using the same colour settings and profiles.

Nobody with any ideas???

Am I look at it the wrong way, are my icons over saturated at the other ones correct??

Does this issue affect other areas of the computer? Ie do desktop icons look different on each machine?

Have you tried redoing your colour profiles?

I haven't tried desktop icons

, forgot to check that, will look when I get home tonight.

First thing I tried and both are now using the same profile.

Ok, have checked normal desktops icons and they are identical under both profiles. I suspect somewhere, somehow Windows has acquired two different icon sets when initially building the profiles at first run :confused:

Does Metro Start Screen have an icon cache that can be cleared?

What happens if you unpin from Start and repin? Do they look the right colour in the all apps view?

For what it's worth, I think the desaturated ones are "correct".

I tried the unpinning with both icon sets, rebooted and repined and still the same effect. I do think I'm with you and now believe the paler set is the correct one and the ones in my profile are not.

It's very odd but at least nothing else on the install seems dodgy so I suspect I will just have to live with this "feature"
