Hey folks,

So this morning I booted up win 8 and dl'd the 8.1 upgrade from the App Store. All went well and I rebooted to finish the install.

On returning to windows I noticed my wifi connection was gone. I search the list of available connections but my router is no where to be seen. The wifi adaptor is picking up all other routers in the block but not mine....

All other devices are still connected to it fine but the PC just won't register it.

I've deleted the network profile via command prompt, rebooted my router, reinstalled my adaptor drivers yet it still will not appear. It seems specific to the PC but I am baffled.

Any help?

Thanks

All good, figured it out

After installing win 8 last week i was getting terrible fluctuations in connection speed. I changed the wireless channel i had been using and it seemed to fix it. Selected channel 13 rather than Auto.

For some reason it wasn't finding the router because of that. Went into the router admin via ipad and changed the channel back to auto and it reappeared on the network list.

Thank fek.

It's annoying, channel 13 is blocked on certain network cards, I think it's something to do with some ruling in America..?

Pick another free channel and it'll be fine.

Use inssider to find a free channel.

Yeh its an odd one.

Was using channel 13 before the 8.1 update no problem.

Just tried to go back to it and sure enough the router vanished from the wireless list again.

Auto is working ok for the moment so not going to fiddle any further for the time being.

I had similar issue,in my case I had to tick the box to "connect to hidden devices" since my SSD does not broadcast, been fine since.
