I bought an Acer laptop today and there is no Win 8 Product key sticker. I know this is norm so how can I find it just incase I decide to change the hard drive etc? Ta

No, its not hidden.

I need a way to find it as i am wanting to install an SSD in the laptop

Its in the bios, I've installed Win 8 on a new SSD and it automatically activated. I've not got a sticker either.

Edit: IIRC the BIOS needs to be in UEFI mode, not legacy mode.

Ok, so if i put an SSD in the laptop and use the right Win8 DVD it should all go ok?

Yep, I even used my Win 8 DVD on my wifes laptop, she has normal win 8 and I have 'Pro' and it activated the correct version even though the same DVD was used :)

Pro Tip: Don't wipe your existing HDD until its all up and running ;)

Put SSD in and put my Win 8 DVD in drive and it keeps saying product key doesn't match media!

Tried a Win 7 DVD I have and still it says the same!

It's not an Acer DVD. It's a netbook I bought too.

Used jelly bean to get the product key but there is nowhere to insert it.

It will automatically activate itself. The key is stored in the bios.

There is no unique "key" in the traditional sense which is why there is no stickered product key as you would have found on previous OEM systems in years gone by.

Each OEM has their own "key" which is stored in the UEFI.

Can you create a restore disk off the old HDD?

and/or get hold of an Acer Win 8 DVD (strange though, as I used my Dell DVD on my wife's Lenovo and it worked fine)?
