Can anyone tell me how I can get into Safe Mode via the Win 8 installation disk ?

I've tried to follow the link, but in the "Advanced Options" screen, I don't have "Windows Startup Settings". I just have the other 4 options.

Is there anyway to reboot into Safe Mode by entering text via the Command Prompt screen ?

F8 or Shift & f8 don't work.
I can't alter the boot mode in MSCONFIG, because my system locks up after a few seconds after in get to the desktop (Outpost Firewall is causing the lock ups).
So doing it via the installation disk is my only option, but, my options are limited.

I rang Microsoft to ask their advice, but, my call was transferred to India.
So, as you will have guessed, I just wasted 20 mins of time and money and didn't find out the answer.

Thank you.

or,

f12 for dvd boot

Hold down the Shift key and press F8 while booting up.
This takes you to the Recovery mode. Select "advanced options," then "troubleshoot," then the "advanced options" again (there are a lot of advanced options). Select "Windows Startup Settings" and finally the "Restart" button. This will reboot the computer and give you the option to boot into Safe Mode.
If you need to get into Safe Mode from within Windows, open the dialogue box ((Windows) + R) and type "msconfig" (no quote marks). Select the "Boot" tab and check the "Safe boot" box. The system will continually boot into Safe Mode until you go back and uncheck the box.

or last off get Hiren's BootCD 15.2 and remove Outpost Firewall

Thank you very much kind Sir :)
The line "bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal" (from the above weblink) inserted into the disk's CMD prompt worked.

glad it sorted, always one link of mine that does in the end, just takes a while to find the right one :)

You saved my monitor from having a keyboard inserted into it at high speed :D
I'm going bookmark that page, probably get a tattoo or it, I think I'll be needed it a lot in the future (I've had 3 days of Windows 8 ferk ups to deal with).

Thanks again.

To be honest, upgrading to Win 8 has been a waste of money and effort.
I'm currently using Win 7 to write these messages, since Win 8 messed up.
And I can tell straight away that Win 7 is faster than Win 8, after just using it again for a few minutes.

win 8 for most is faster and as it supports the latest version of dx11 which win 7 doesn't, it will and is better for most in games, but for me i'll still wait, a few little issues to iron out b4 i make the move fully.

but with better sdd support and a bit quicker i'd wait it out now you have made the move, it will get better, just might feel like it taking it's time, they all did the same tbh until first sp came out.

we just seem to be the testers for what wasn't fully ready when released for me, a few more weeks or months and maybe a few more patches and drivers would have been sorted out
