Win 9 and Aero rumour.....

Aero is well overrated, eye candy at best that serves no real purpose,I think its just a wishful thinking rumour from what I read from some members, Microsoft are not keen to bring it back, eats battery life on laptops they were saying etc...personally rather have a real feature rather then Aero, also if you can't get Win8/8.1 looking great without Aero you are doing something wrong IMHO.

Also Win98/2k/XP days there was no Aero etc,so again it's easy to live without.

Just another Aero moan IMHO,get over it.

We made a conscious effort to relate the visual appearance of the Windows 8 desktop to the visual appearance of the familiar Windows 7 desktop,” Harris wrote. “This helps people who want to predominantly use the desktop feel comfortable and immediately at home in the new environment.”

And Harris points out that the goal behind Aero — to draw attention to a program’s content rather than “chrome” (i.e., title bars, decorative borders, etc.) — remains in the Windows 8 desktop experience.

But others aren’t so happy about the change and think that Microsoft is ditching Aero for more specific reasons. Paul Thurrott, over at his blog Supersite for Windows, argues that Microsoft is getting rid of Aero to save battery life.

“Aero, with all its glassy, translucent goodness, is bad for battery life. Metro, meanwhile, which is flat, dull, not transparent, and only full screen, is very good for battery life. It’s predictable,” he writes.

And battery life matters much more to the on-the-go tablet or laptop user, not the always-plugged-in desktop user. According to Thurrot, Microsoft no longer cares about its traditional desktop user base and has ditched Aero in order to cater to a “mythical” tablet user.

Not seeing your point there. DirectDraw was deprecated in 2000...

Please see my updated post to alleviate your confusion.

Well I definitely agree with you there, hence why I turned off Aero for the performance benefits that I experience. With a theme that neatens up Windows 7 Basic, I hardly notice the lack of Aero at all.

I think everyone who ever goes into the Windows forum is well aware of your opinions on Aero and Metro.

I haven't said anything about aero if it's good or bad or whatever. I've only said i'm not to bothered about it, which I've said once in the other thread.

Why is it Drivel? After all Windows 8 strips everything down to basics and just adds Metro and a search engine. Everything else has to be added or paid for.

Like what? What needs paying for above and beyond what Windows 7 provided? (Bar DVD playback, which can be resolved for free anyway)

Not really, market sales and predictions, means they have to go on. Tablets will be outselling desktops by then. Then there's the money from the store. Anyone who thinks they will do a u-turn really needs their head read. You may not link it, but the market shows how important mobile devices are.

"market sales and predictions" show that MS has 1000% lost the mobile war in phone and tablets and they won't be coming back soon.

They made a big mistake trying to combine a phone\desktop OS. they've tried it 3 times already and still lost.
Now it's time to go back and do what they do best Desktop\server OS with out metro.
