win 98 or 98se

how can I tell if i've got a pc with windows 98 or 98se on?
also can only use a keyboard

I cant actually remember if win98 has a run command, lol.

if all your hardware+peripherals work it's 98se.

The OP actually has a valid point as if you simply press Win + Break it only says Windows 98 not whether it is 98SE or not. However, I have found the following cheat sheet to help you.

Simply got to Start -> Run - >Winver & compare to the following version numbers:

4.10.1998 (A) - Windows 98 Retail & OEM (5/11/98)
4.10.2222(A) - Windows 98 Second Edition (4/23/99)
4.90.3000 (A) -Windows Me (6/08/00)

The Windows key/Pause combination brings up the System Properties which DOES indeed tell you the version of Windows 98. The SE version says Second Edition where as the first edition doesn't.
