Win Live Messenger not Send/receiving messages

Pretty much in the title, i've never had this problem before but it seems to happen every day now, and i have to log out and in to get it to work again, problem is i don't know when the client is no longer sending/receiving messages because it still shows me as logged in just fine

I've used the new version of messenger and i'm back to the old version and no matter what i still have this problem, any help or ideas on how to fix this.

i have a problem talking to the missus with it at the moment; she's still on the previous version, whereas i've "upgraded" to the new one, which randomly decides if it's going to show either of us as being offline, and/or not sending/receiving messages.

Just an update to this to see if anyone can help,

i moved over to pidgin because people were still seeing me as offline after a few hours and my messages were not being received by friends, aswell as me not being able to receive theirs but even with pidgin i'm having the same issue,

this is not an issue i've ever had before so i'm at a bit of a loss of what to do to fix it because its not as if i go offline or theres even a sign i'm unable to send/receive messages unless someone tells me on ventrilo or in game.
