win vista ultimate and networking

hi there,

I have a laptop and desktop both on vista ultimate...

I have shared a drive on my desktop so I can access it from the laptop..

trouble is when the desktop is not on i.e. I am not on the desktop of the desktop on, I cannot access the drive from the laptop..

is there an option in win vista ultimate that enables off line sharing for drives when networking?

please advise

I'm not an expert, but I would believe that if you are sharing a drive local to that machine, whenever the PC is not powered on it won't be able to share it anyway.

Or, do you mean, that unless you are on the Windows Desktop you cannot share?
