Hi
i have trying to install win xp pro on a parkard ixtreme 6050

i know what im doing when i format i work in IT Support but this one got me

whats happening is when i format i detele the partition and create new one but when windows finishs installing on boot up saying that theres win xp home and win xp pro on the hardrive.

why doing this ?

Have seen this before, not sure why it happens but it's easily remedied by editing the boot.ini file. If you can't be bothered to make the file non-system, hidden etc then go to control panel -> system -> advanced then settings under 'startup and recovery' then hit edit. You'll get a notepad window with the boot.ini in it and you'll see a line for XP Home, just remove that. A normal boot.ini should look something like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

awesome thanks never came across this before thank you ever much i try it let you know how it goes

you would have just needed to boot to safe mode and edit the boot.ini, but nevermind. it is a very common problem with re-formats
