win xp x64 driver install error ?

Morning chaps , ive been trying to update my 169.21 x64 drivers this morning,i uninstalled them then rebooted to safe mode and ran driver cleaner, so far so good

then i tried to install 174.74 and got a error, so i tried 174.53 and got the same error :(


can any one tell me if theres a fix

Have you tried an older version again by any chance? Could just be the new drivers are dodgey in some respect...?
 
Ive just reinstalled 169.21's without any probs , so must be a 17x driver problem ? i really wanted to try those 174.74 too coz the ones im using now have the AA profile bug :(
 
are you sure you downloaded drivers for the 8800GT? on the nvidia search-thingy it automatically pops the top-of-the-line card in instead of what you've actually got.
