Behind you... Naked!
I have decided to upgrade my gaming PC. its my main AMD Machine and until now, its been running 7 then 8.1.

Whenever I try to adjust the volume up or down, when I use the scroller on my keyboard, it makes a bleep and the screen flashes on and off every single time.

This makes it a seriously nasty thing to have to do, and it is very distracting.

I have not been able to cure it.

I have never seen this happen before, with any previous O/S

Setup is currently using a Recon3D with the latest Win10 drivers
ATI GFX Again with the latest ATI Drivers, and the Motherboard also using the latest ATI Chipset drivers.

At first, I never used ANY drivers, as everything works without them, however, I decided to install them all purely because I was getting a couple of little naggies. This black scren and bleep being one of them.

Oh, the keyboard is a Logiteck G510s and I have installed the Logitech drivers too!

Any ideas?

No, just the keyboard.
But thats when I am in the middle of a movie / game etc... The time when I need to quickly turn the volume down without having to shrink the window, or close the screen just to get at it... the last thing I need is to shrink my game only to find that I have dropped the VOL too much and I go back in and then out because I need to up it a bit.

Quite irritating Im sure you will agree?

I have downloaded ALL the latest drivers for all the devices on the system now, and nothing I mdoing helps.

I am trying to put up with the fact that Windows 10 is the most pug-ugly O/S on the planet, and I am trying to accept that its even uglier than Windows 8.x but I am seriously struggling to find a reason to stay with it, and not go back to Windows 7, other than the fact that MS will force me to Win10 very soon anyway.

Ok cool I read the page. Very interesting.

Yes, that 1511 looks to be a fairly huge update, however some are also saying that it has NOT worked, and some are saying that it has.

Seems that most are saying that the small autohotfix.exe seems to be the best option for now, and I have indeed grabbed that one, and I can say that yes, for now, it has certainly cured the issue for the time being. As to whether this will come back, I dont know... I am going to restart the PC in a few minutes and see if it is back, and if so, then I will put a link into the startup folder.

Ah, right, so a shutdown and restart did NOT keep the fix in.

It is clearly a work around then, and not a fix as-such, however, it does the job and so I have thrown it into the start menu.

Wierdly, that led me to another issue that I have found with Windows 10, and that is how the hell to put things into the start menu LOL, but I have found it now. Unable to p[ut a link into it, but I was able to put the whole exe file and its only 1K so who gives a monkeys... as long as it works of course!

Now, time to se if it affects any of my usual games as some seem to say that it can and does. affect some of their fave games.

Thanks for this though guys... a seriously irritating problem solved with such a small little app, is just typical really.

What is even worse, is that all of the apps that I use in Windows, I have found either direct replacements for, or even better solutions to, in Linux, and the ones that I have not, I have found that wine runs those apps just perfectly.

For me, there is no reasons at all to stick with Windows anymore and I am already on the verge of ditching it.

Ah bugger.

I thought my mouse was on its way out.

I cannot get into the attic to get my kids to get one of my other good ones, and I thought this one is a good few years old now, and so I fancied a change.... Sticking with Logitech although semi torn betwen a few corsairs that look tasty I will admit, I am now £80 lighter, only to find out that it is the funky little hotfix thats caused it.

I am very glad that it has an option to halt the script, but it is still showing a huge issue that needs to be addressed.

I am using Linux more each day anyway, so maybe I can just ignore it?

Solved it. Its called Windows 8.1 - Job done.
Harsh, maybe, but Windows 10 does nothing that 8.1 does not do.
8.1 does nothing that 7 doesnt wither except boot up a tiny bit quicker ( useless as I never switch off ) but 7 does give a visually gorgeous display when 8 and above are just so bloody awful.
But thats me now. 8.1 and probably back to 7 are going to be my last Windows Operating systems before I move to Linux.

I had this problem too after upgrade. Fresh install along with installing the Logitech gaming software fixed it.

As per other thread, thinking of going back to Win7 myself. Is DX12 really such a big deal? :(

DX12 for me, is useless.

I have a serious disability, and so proper gaming is out of the window for me, and the only games that I can play these days, are mouse driven and maybe a few keystrokes here and there - single keys mind you too!

COD / Quake / Doom / UnReal Tourney are all games that I pride myself on being able to more than hold my own on, and can play against the big boys with, but, alas, since teh accident, I have zero ability to use my hand to move my character and I can no longer move my fingers anywhere near quickly enough to even play the games against the computer on easy, so I have had to knock them on the head and thats killing me.

I do however like to play Dawn Of War, and that, as well as Company of Heroes is about the only game that I can play these days that I actually like.

My gaming days are over and its utterly destroyed me and no, XBOX and P/S are also out of it too because I cannot use a controler either!

I have of course tried various joysticks and joypads to try to overcome this disability but they mostly dont help really... The Joysticks are often to big and the padsare often just too complex and silly, when all I really need is the basic U/D/L/R and jump and croutch and I should be ok, but again, this is something that I have not found in any joystick/pad that is useable with my hand.

BooHoo.

But anyway. what I am saying is no, DX12 is useless to me Windows 10 gives me nothing that I care about, that Windows 7 does not give me. Come to think of it, even XP would be every bit as good for me and my needs... 64Bit version I mean.

.

I'm sure some time ago there was someone in a similar predicament on OcUK who had some ingenious contraption set up for gaming - I think he was doing twitch streaming as well. I'll have a look later but in the meantime maybe someone else remembers!
