Win10 Home question.

You can only have one windows license per pc so you can use the same install media but would need another key to activate it.

also with the key being an oem key it would be tied to the hardware on the first pc it’s installed on too.

Thanks for reply Ed209,

I really dont want to pay another 100 pounds Windows 10 Home! Where could I get a Key/serial?

Cheers

EDIT - What if I took this SSD drive and just put it into new machine im building would that work?

OEMs tied to the motherboard, so if thats new, new serial.

OEM :

OEM versions of Windows are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:

- OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel

- OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on

- OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

- OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

I read on another thread on Overclockers that you can buy new serial for around a £10 but where?

If not should I just buy another windows 10 home cd off here?

Get the serial on ebay, cheap as chips, always a chance they might stop working apparently but I've bought loads and they are still fine after years and years.

I searched Ebay.co.uk no more serials left so maybe I could get a cheep CD or USB drive with Windows 10, or buy the Win10 Home off Overclockers.

If your motherboard fails you can request activation on a new motherboard. I've done this in the past by calling Microsoft and was actually surprisingly quick.

about time microsoft were forced to allow multiple hardware
it's like saying you cant play a game if you change motherboards
I cant believe this practice is still allowed
