Morning all

I have a PC with Windows 7 installed on an SSD and then 2 separate HDD's used for media and programs/games - I am thinking about re-imaging to WIN10 but I need to ensure that my media HDD is not damaged/corrupted or sufferers any data loss during the upgrade process.

I want to install WIN10 to the SSD, wipe the installed games and programs from one of my HDDs but keep all the data and files on my 3rd HDD so I can continue to use this on my rebuild WIN10 install.

What would you guys suggest is the best actions to take to ensure I do this correctly? should I disconnect the Media HDD drive before I start the WIN10 install(disconnect in Windows, not physically)? Should I expect that once WIN10 is installed onto my SSD that my media drive will simple continue to work and read the data without any issue?

I will be installing Windows 10 from USB.

Thanks

If you want to make sure you are completely safe, disconnect the drive physically, then once Windows 10 is installed, reconnect it.

sounds like the best way to be sure - when I plug it back in should I expect all the file structure on the drive to simply work as before?

The drive will remain exactly how you left it.

If you decided not to disconnect the drive, just make sure you are careful not to select it during the installation process and it will remain untouched.
