Hi guys,
it seems there is a bug in Win2k3. It can't transfer large files to an external USB1/2 drive. Some sort of inability to handle queuing/priorities.
I did not know this until I had bought a eSata/USB2 caddy + a seagate 500gb hard drive to backup onto.
If using USB2, I get inconsistency errors after a random amount of time and the transfer fails. If I try the eSata interface, I get an error saying the drive could not be found, and low and behold, the eSata drive has vanished. The only way to get it back on this interface is to reboot my server (not desirable).
So, what the hell can I do? I need to move backups onto the external drive, windows won't let me.
Any help or advice appreciated.
