Win7 64, gadgets?

I downloaded this gadget file & I can not find a way to run it, I googled with it talking about a sidebar. I followed the ins, & can not find the stuff it talks about.

Does right clicking on the desktop and clicking gadgets not work?

Under Control Panel, Programs, Turn Windows features on or off, is Windows Gadget Platform ticked?

Didnt they deactivate them or something? There's a security risk associated with them, thats why I dont use them.

they should still work, all Microsoft did was close there download site they had them on

And you can hack the gadgets to work on Windows 8 as well. I would not like to be without these gadgets http://addgadgets.com/ use at work(win7) and at home (win8)
