Last week before the retail version of Win7 64bit was on offer i bought the OEM and have installed it etc. I know for a fact that i will not be upgrading my motherboard unless it breaks. Is it worth me getting the retail version agian? IF i did i will also use the 32bit version on my GF's computer if its possible ?

I am not quite sure what you are asking...

If you want to install Windows 7 on another computer, then buy all means pick up a Retail copy if it is on offer. You cannot legitimately install that OEM copy on any other computer, even if you completely remove it from the current PC.

EDIT: Why install 32bit? May as well use 64 unless you have a compelling reason not to.

As i have the OEM if my motherboard or i do upgrade in the next year or so then it will be obsilite then?

So am i better off getting the retail and saving the 64bit for myself later on

and my gf has 32bit Vista so was thinking of using the 32bit for her

I must have had too much coffee... or not enough, but I am still not sure what you mean. If you have already installed the OEM then, technically, you are stuck with it since it is now tied to your computer. If you need to change/upgrade the motherboard at a later date you will likely have to call Microsoft to reactivate it [normally a 5 minute automated phonecall].

If your girlfriend's computer has a 64-bit CPU, then you should install the 64-bit version of 7. You will need to do a clean install [meaning you have to backup her stuff!]. If you aren't particularly bothered then you can upgrade her Vista to 32-bit 7 without her losing any data and programs.

I had it in my mind that win7 OEM is a 1 time install and that it couldnt be used again if the motherboard or other items changed/broke etc

gf's processor is a core 2 duo E7400 2.8GHZ
2BG RAM

You are allowed to change your motherboard in case it needs to be replaced [note need, not want! :p].

Your girlfriend's PC will run 64-bit just fine, plus in future you can add more RAM to make use of the OSs ability address lots, lots more than the 3.25GB limit of 32 bit.

hehe Thanks Sirius someday my mobo will Needed to be replaced :D

I was going to add the 32bit to her system as she won't really be upgrading the memory at all she is just a very light gamer (settlers now and agian)

And keep the 64bit for myself later on incase the oem version gets screwed over , i take it there is a limit to how many times the oem can be activated re-installed?

You cannot keep the 64-bit Retail version for yourself. Although you get two discs, you only have one license and you can only install one copy of Windows 7 with that license. The reason for the two discs is to give you a choice, not a means to install it twice on two machines.

Ahhh ^ smeg :( that idea out the window then ..lol

any way of getting another licence without getting more disks?
