Don't know if anyone can help on this one but I'm having some problems with the backup feature built into Win7, that likes to run once a week.

Previously it had been running just fine but after a recent blue screen and need to run a recovery it's stopped working properly. System is setup with Win7 x64 on c: (a 128gb SSD) and a 1tb 3.5" disk split into equal sized d: and e: partitions.

Backup was set to backup c: onto e: when it ran. However now when I go into the backup settings, it only sees my d: partition as an option, e: has disappeared. Also, if I try to back up to d: it tells me that this is on the same physical disk as my c: and hence cannot backup to here. All the drives appear in explorer and work just fine other than this issue.

Any ideas? Looks like I need to reset something in the registry / master boot tables but no idea where to start! Thanks in advance

Only time I've seen this I had to delete all of the backups that had been taken and then manually remove the folders on the partition which had any data relating to the backup in them.

Oddly after doing so I could run a fresh backup without any problems, wish I'd backed them up to a USB drive first though as I might have been able to save the original client backup :)
