win7 detects 2nd monitor but doesnt show picture

so i connected a second monitor to my gpu.

i used a vga to dvi adapter on the monitor then connected it to my gpu using dvi-d cable.

windows 7 detects the monitor but i dont get any picture showing on the monitor.

can someone help? thanks a lot

Have you extended the desktop in control panel ?

Also try swapping the DVI ports the monitors go into on the gfx card. I had a card before that would only take an adapted VGA signal in one port.

it is extended and ive tried using the dvi cable in 2 different dvi ports.

i can drag a window all the way to the other screen...i just cant see it

im using a dvi D cable which is digital. could it be because of that?

should i be using a dvi-i or a dvi-A cable?

Tried dragging a window from the other side of the screen? you might have screen 1 and 2 mixed up.
