Win7 Experience index query

Just built a new machine as follows:

AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 550 3.10GHz
Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AMD 770
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 10666C9 1333MHz TwinX Dual Channel
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA-II 16MB
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024MB GDDR5

which gives me a base score of 5.9 with the following individual scores:

Processor: 6.5
Memory: 7.4
Graphics: 7.3
Gaming Graphics: 7.3
Hard disk: 5.9

I'm just wondering why I am getting such a low score for the hard disk and if there is anything I can do to improve it ?

I haven't overclocked the processor or attempted to enable the 2 additional cores so know the processor score can be higher.

I've been thinking about buying another drive for raid but I was thinking more of mirroring (raid 1) for disaster recovery rather than raid 0. I was put off thinking that raid 1 would slow my machine down and would be better off with an external backup drive.

If I was to go for raid 1 would my rating possibly be less than 5.9 while for raid 0 it would definately be higher ?
