Win7 Fresh install - Firefox security issues?

Behind you... Naked!
After having non stop issues with Windows 10 and my sound cards, I decided enough is enough, and rather than just got back to 8.1, I have gone back to Win7 - mainly because I just love it.

Now, I have a really annoying issue now, with Friefox, in that wheneever I try to go t oa page thats has the LOCK on it, or its a httpS page, I get kicked off it and I get told its a security issue.

I also have one other issue and this may be connected, but when I try to watch a video on YouTube, I just get a spining circle and then after about 5 seconds the page comes up telling me there is an error with adobe and that is also a securiy error.

Now, after a search with google, I am told to open the folders in firefox and delete this file ( I forgot its name now ) but that did nothing, I have also reset the firefox settings to factory, and this has done something... The page is slightly different, but its giving me the same message, except this time I can now add the exception to the list and I can now get at the page.

This is better than it was of course, but its still a headache.

For example with OCUK Forums here, I got onto the main page just fine, entered my username and password, but then the secirity page comes up when I try to log on because that goes through a locked page and I am never able to log on, but at least now I have managed it, even though it once again gave me the warning but then it did let me in.

Its very confusing and I have not seen this before? Anyone have any clues?

One thing I did do, and this might have something toi do with it, but before I reinstalled, I used MOZBACKUP to save my info in Both Firefox and Thunderbird.
I then restored them when I installed them.
The version of Firefox that I backed up from was the latest and thats v47, and the version I installed, and then backed up my data to, was v38.

This has NEVER been an issue before though?
The version now is of course v47.0.1

Ok, so if anyone has any clues as to this issue, then I would love to know how to solve it.

Thanks.

No, the time & date is correct.

I will admit that I had just gone to bed when I had the email on my phone, and I got up to check it... Just in case, but no, its set right.

And this morning, when I went to reply, I had to log-in once again ( yet I logged in and set it to remember me last night ) but in a differet way, rather than the page going through that security junk, it went through to the Thank you for logging in page instantly.

Few steps better... Few steps.

Probably your date and time was set wrong in bios during install but as Windows 7 periodically checks sync with the atomic clock online it has now set it correctly?

No, I am absolutely sure that was not the case.
I dotn know what could have possibly got it to reset or change, and after checking the install dates etc, they tally up, and so no, the time and date was not the cause in any way at all.

Now, in a typical "I'm a total liar" mode, I have now just gone back to Windows 10, and FireFox has done exactly the same with Windows 10

Its clearlyu my image of Firefox ( I installed v43 and let that update istself rather than install a new version )

I have only one clue to point to why its doing this and thats, that I use MOZBACK to backup and restore my Firefox & Thunderbird settings and something has clearly gone off there, but after many uninstalls and clear ups, I just cannot resolve this issue where it wont open a HTTPS page.

SSL?
Yes, possible issue of course!

I have not had to reinstall for some time on this PC, but I have reinstalled on my other machines and had no issues, and I have happily use MoxBackup and its files to by-pass all the silly setting up of TBird & FFox and I have NEVER had a single issue until I reinstalled this PC, and I am trying to wonder just what there could be, thats different with this PC to the others...

My bloody AntiVirus!

I use NOD32 on this PC but the others I use Free Antiviruses and Avast in particular and so yeah, I didnt think of the A/V Settings...

I will check up on that now.

Ah, maybe not?

I have gone in to the setup and the advanced setup, done some meddling about with SSL and it made no difference to the pages that seem to be blocked, I have even turned off the AV entirely and it still did nothing.

Its killing me because I have thrown Chrome onto the PC and that works great ( Apart from the fact that I cannot stop popups even though the pop up blocker is on ) and I just dont like it... Im a firefox fan through and through.

I guess you had seen this and this under ff support pages

I would go for something corrupted in profiles (Corrupted certificate store from faq) , did you already create a fresh profile ?
(When I migrate ff I manually copy across options files/add-on cfg's/history and saved sessions - does MOZBACK have good feedback?)

As above i would try a new profile to see if it works as the backup software may have copied the settings of the AV and unable to change them.

:Edit:

You can always just keep a backup of your profiles and just run firefox.exe -P and thunderbird.exe -p to import the backup profiles in future.

Ok, well I seem to be fixed now.
I would have to say that perhaps the SSL info must have done the trick, but to be honest, it could be a million other reasons.

the MOZBACKUP files I used, while b eing the latest, are by no means the ONLY files I have... I am one of those idiots that has some form of OCD and has NEVER deleted a single thing that I dont keep a backup of, and I have a fair few versions of the data files to use and I did go back a few different versions in my quest for the solution and none seemed to work, and, in a similar manner, as I said before, I have multiple computers and they all worked on all my other PCs, it was just this one being the awkward one.

My A/V might have also been the issue, as I said this PC I use NOD32 and other machines use AVAST, but a swapsies to AVAST didnt help anything either?

Basically, I have just doen so much silly little thing s over and over and now the issue seems to have pretty much resolved itself, and whether or not, it was somethign I did or maybe didnt do, I simply dont bloody know LOL ?

One small issue that IS happening, that is almost definitely my own fault, is that whenever I reconnect to OCUK Forums, I have to re-log in every time! - the one ond only issue I have left... Typical or what?

Thanks then guys. I dont know what else to say, but maybe thanks to everyone cos it could have been anything, I just dont know whether or not it was as single thing or maybe a bit of everything that has cured it?
