hey, i have just tried to install Win7 (64) onto a new harddrive (sammy F3) upon setup it asks for a CD/dvd device driver ?!

this is unusual as XP and vista both didnt need this.. and the device is already running if it is booting up the Win7 disc?!

any help.... i am currently getting the drivers to install when prompted but will it do this for GFX and anything else ie. MoBo !

thanks

I have just been looking into this, and every thread I have found has pretty much said the same thing - try to burn the iso again.

Now obviously that only applies if you created the install disc yourself. Did you, or is it a proper MS DVD? [all shiny and gold]

Unfortunatly not, its a Download and burn the ISO yourself from university... so it is a legal copy.

i did make to copies tho as a fail safe i shall try the other disc in a moment... but i have also downloaded latest driver for drive see if that works.

Thank you the first copy I made worked fine, although by the same programe (express burn) I instructed to make 2 copies. Seems to be installing fine.
Many thanks again and will update if any more issues :)

It worked on the second disc (1st one i made) which was strange...

Since then i'v decided to stick to Vista...
1.random problem installing (as above) - although prob not Win7 fault.
2.the System would crash and not responde (inc. mouse) if i print screened !?! had to power off. - checked to see if it was a one off... Crashed again!
3. Graphics drivers failed (although i know this is an issue with the 5770) BUT didnt restore - Vista does.
4. what the hell is wih the notification area? windows live is a mess on it, couldnt run in background had to be in your task bar. and upon clicking it it opens another task button for the same page!!? checked all settings to. - petty thing but it all adds up!

perhaps stick wih vista till Win7 as settled down a tad.

1: It is a common issue with discs burned yourself but you solved it.
2: That is really weird, never heard of that happening in my life on any OS :/
3: Graphics drivers have always been a problem on new OSs, but not many issues on Windows 7 that I have heard. You're just unlucky with yours I guess.
4: I hate that WLM has to run in the Taskbar. I hope they fix that but it isn't a major concern. Notification area on the whole is pretty good I think, much tidier than previous OS I think. Not everyone agrees but meh, what can ya do?
