win7 keeps crashing, help.

I recently upgraded (not a new install just an upgrade disk) from windows vista to windows 7 and now I find that if i have a few tabs in I explorer open, i have I explorer open for a while without usin it or run virus scan that the PC crashes startin with the web browser.

Does anyone else have this problem? (mayb its time to go back to vista).

Is Windows itself crashing or just the web browser?

Blue screens, or java/flash applictaons dying within your explorer?

windows itself, starts with the browser then every total freezes. No blue screens or out.

When I went from vista to 7 I updated instead of a full format and reinstall. Could that be the cause of any of these problems?

check task manager and see which process is using all the memory. if it is the browser, try to change browsers, use firefox. if still happens try reinstall flash. IF still happens and you have no more information then you could try to disable some drive indexing stuff or just do a fresh install.

If a fresh install isn't too inconvenient I personally would try that. Although I'm not convinced the upgrade is at fault it wouldn't hurt to rule it out. If after that it still hangs then I would start checking the hardware.

Go this way - if Windows 7 aint runnin smooth then Vista certainly wont
