Been trying to install Win7 64 Bit and cant get it to install

Its doing the initial load across the bottom of the screen, does the flash screen thing in the middle of the screen then goes to a background screen and sits there.

Hmm i thought, try diff device boot order, 1 stick of RAM, even resorted to trying to load my Vista 32 bit OS. Wont do that either

Im stumped PC seems fine but just refuses to get to the point when you setup the OS location etc

Anyoen faced similar?

Will resort to full specs etc but Im guessing im missing something obvious

Oh checked all cables well seated, CPU is cool, everything seems fine

I encountered an issue where while installing, it would stall for quite a while before giving me the install options, in Vista. I found by removing all USB drives ect, it would speed it up a bit. So try a bare minimum set-up, no USb devices if possible and GPU being the only card. How many drives do you have?

All that was attached was a PS2 keyboard, I even forgot the mouse and tried it without that, then tried it with it, same thing.

Im now starting to wonder if the oddity is I am using a HDMI output, so will try tomorrow on a normal monitor incase thats the issue.

Next step would be to try to eliminate other hardware. :(

Didnt try leaving more than 2 minutes, could give it a good 5 i suppose just in case :)

Yep my installs have always taken an age to get through the first setup screens while the machine seemingly does nothing.

Just leave it for ages and it'll jump into action :)

thanks guys
decided to give it the 5 min trick, walked away and came back 5 mins later and it was just moving to next screen, seemed stuck there so tried the 5 min trick and finally got as far as the licence screen and then the hard disk screen

seems so wierd it takes so long to get past that stage
