hi there,

i built a pc for my cousin back in October when win7 was released.

at the time i got everything running except the sound, which came up in DM with a yellow triangle. this was because there no win7 drivers and i could not for the life of me get any of the xp or vista drivers to work with it.

i just got the machine back to try again but now theres no audio HW at all in DM.

i've taken the card out, booted then put it back in but still nothing. windows troubleshooter comes up in the taskbar say the card is detected though.

any ideas guys?

is the card dead?

specs:

os: win 7 ultimate (32bit) build 7600
mb: asus rampage extreme 2
s/c: supremeX x-fi card included with mb

screenshot included for reference:

running the asus supplied vista/7 drivers and the x-fi utility just results in a message saying no supported hardware installed.

any help is very much appreciated :D
