Win7 Optimisation...?

Installed Win7 Ultimate on my Bro's Dell Studio laptop yesterday.

Seems to be working fine.

Are there any tweaks I need to know of to speed things up or general optimisation..?

I set mine to 10, 10 and 100

Speeds up Aero Peek behaviour.

save that as a reg file and run, then log off/logon

msconfig click on boot enter advanced options and tick number of processors to 2 (if its a dual core) it speeds up boot time.

Most advice I've seen (from people who seem to know their stuff) seems to agree on: "leave it alone" ...

Indeed,

Don't go on a service disabling frenzy

Although I do disable the following two services

HomeGroup Listener
HomeGroup Provider

With them disabled it hides the homegroup functionality from the UI, cleaning it up a bit
