Guys,

I have a Win7 Pro machine running as my media centre. I have set it to auto logon via the user user controlpasswords2 command which works, however when the machine is set to standby and then wakes, it comes up with the standard windows logon screening asking for my password.

Does anyone have a way around this?

Thanks

Go into Control Panel -> Power Options, then Change Plan Settings, Change Advanced Power Settings.

The first option in the window that appears should be "Require a password on wakeup", set that to "no" :)

Control Panel/Power Options, click the 'Require a Password on wakeup' item at the top left, this opens System Settings screen, bottom item says 'Don't Require a Password'.

Hope this helps.

SNAP! 2 routes to the same solution!

isn't it in the screensaver section as with XP/vista where it has the option to "prompt for password when resuming from standby" or something similar?

I don't have Windows 7 at work but pretty sure I had to uncheck it at home!

Argh beaten twice like a ginger step childs unwanted x-factor single.

Go with Malcolm's version, it applies to all power schemes on the PC, my suggestion only applies to the selected power scheme :) Thanks Malcolm - I always miss the left panel options - and probably do things the long way round!!!

I am not worthy! I hadn't appreciated the subtles difference between the two methods, but then mine is a desktop and I only use one power profile.
