Just decided to go up from XP to Win7 "64"

Only had it running 3 days but have had a BSOD avg once a day, this usualy happens when i've left my PC alone a while, watching TV nip into town etc. It's not happened yet while playing BFBC2 or Napoleon TW TF2 etc.

Running An Asus P5Q Pro latest bios Q6600 @3.2 2x2gig Corsair XMS2, GTX275

Frustrating thing is in all the time i've stuck with XP i've never had any BSOD I can leave my PC on for days on end, play any game, tinker in PSPS and never have to worry about messing anything up. I liked the look and feel of Win7 so i went for it.

If this carries on though i'm going to have to seiously think about changing :(

latest BC error code was 124..

Anyone hear about Asus ACPI power management problems with Win7 ?

Any ideas ?

Left it over night downloading and to keep it busy i left a film running hoping it might keep it busy, come down and it's gone and BSOD again :(

same error

You can send me your memory dump from the last BSOD.

Can be found in either C:\Windows or C:\Windows\Minidump. The file has a .dmp file extension. They should also be dated, so pick the one that matches the most recent BSoD if there are several.

Contact me via my trust, and I can give you my email address.

I can't promise I will find the exact cause, but usually the memory dumps point to the general area of the cause! :p

Cheers for the replies lads,

SiriusB, Nice one 'ive had some feed back from another forum i visit along the same lines, so ill hold off on your offer for the minute.

Steps taken since orignal post, reinstalled all chipset, lan, vid , sound drivers and maybe more importently i've given my CPU a little voltage boost.

I'm clocked from 2.4 to 3.2 realy didn't fancy running at any where near stock so was suggested to up the volts a little but obviously keep within safe specs.

Don't want to tempt fate so typing with one hand and touching my wooden desk, but i've been out most of the day and left PC downloading and not had the usual BSOD, fingers crossed might turn out ok.

will post back in a few days / week and update on the situation.

Once again cheers for the replies and offer lads..

Did you install it when it was clocked?

Always reset the Mobo to Defaults to install.

Ye installed with my overclock settings. Is there any evidense that this can cause problems ?

Update, only had one 124 error since last post, 6 days ago so seems to have vastly reduced it but not eliminated the error totaly. I can live with it for now though without throwing my mouse through the monitor :)

There is a reason why there is an option in the BIOS.

Given that the manufacturers of the Motherboards always include such an option, should be prrof alone that this does help yes.

Plus in my own experience, if I install the O/S onto a clocked system, even if the O/S goes on fully, I may not get an issues straight away, but sometime and usually sometime soon, I will do, and the only solution is simply to reinstall with the SETUP DEFAULTS enabled in the BIOS.
