Inside the last week or so, and couldn't really say what has / hasn't changed to cause it (though I don't have any funny stuff installed to do window or desktop management, just plain old windows theming preferences), I find the following happening:
- Upon login, Windows desktop icons are ALWAYS at medium size, and appearing to auto-arrange (even though auto-arrange isn't enabled)
- If I set them how I like and back to small icons, log off, log on again, it's back to medium / arranged again.
- Other folders seem similarly affected, for example I usually have Downloads folder sorted by Date order, but whenever I open it now, defaults to Name order regardless of what I do.
I've tried using the Folder options to reset folder to default / apply settings to all folders to no avail.
I don't really fancy trashing my user profile and recreating it (yet), I'd rather only do that as a last resort.
Does this sound familiar at all? It's Win7 with all updates on it, and I'm using an nvidia graphics driver that I've had on for at least a few months predating this issue, and as mentioned no desktop layout / management software in use (nvidia used to do one once but it caused me problems so never looked at using it on this machine at all).
