win7 says ati graphics driver has stopped working, but can't find solution

all of a sudden win7 has started saying my ati graphics card (radeon x1900 iirc) driver has stopped working and suggests ways to fix the problem. I tried checking ati's website but can't find how to solve the issue.

i downloaded their catalsyt thing and updated drivers, didn't seem to do anything.

checking device manager there is NTativrv01 which i have never seen before and checking drivers it says "not available". under display adapaters drop down there is radeon x1900 series, which appears to be ok. driver date is 10/02/10, version 8.593.100.0

anyone know what's possibly going on and what i can try?

try restarting your pc then check if its ok

Un-install drivers > reboot > run Driver sweeper> reboot > re-download & install drivers > reboot.
