win7 to 10 then possible new build later licence issues

If you've already upgraded to 10, then change your motherboard, do you have to reinstall your retail 7/8, activate and then do the online 10 upgrade again? Does MS allow any other way?

No.. MS have a record of your activation. You will be fine.

OEM is a different matter as humbug found.

Just as an aside, you can buy windows 10 very cheaply from other places. Not sure how much I'll get in trouble for this, but have a look at Kinguin.
That is all.

I've got a Windows 7 Ultimate Retail that I'm guessing due to driver issues won't upgrade to 10, so I tried doing a fresh install (from a USB drive created a couple of weeks ago). This wouldn't activate, I tried activating over the phone which didn't work, I was then put through to some Asian call centre where the people they employ can hardly speak English, and the call quality is so bad that even if they were speaking proper English it'd be impossible to work out what they were saying! In the end I gave up and stayed with Windows 7.
