bloody win7 update!!!! i had work up on firefox loads of tabs etc which i needed. i put the computer to sleep and windows deicded instead to update and shut down, now i have nothing.

any way i can get it to start up again with the saved state? i assume everything is gone and i've got to start again?

anyone know how to stop this happening? i known over last few days it wants to update but i just click sleep and it's fine, then after doing this a few times it just goes screw it i'll ignore you and shut down instead

Doesn't FF start in last saved state after updates or is that just for abnormal termination?

I always specify to be informed of updates but download and install them myself.

might be wrong but sleep mode maintains the ram but the rest of the system is in a low power state? Therefore a reboot/shutdown will loose your tabs I'm afraid. Hybernation is different I believe, it saves the current state as a file on your hdd (hyberfil I think in the root directory) - maybe a work around. Also, doesn't firefox have a setting to restore tabs on opening? (I use chrome so can't check).

I think the problem is that occasiionally when sleep is selected on the start menu the machine actually begins installing updates then shuts down instead. Maybe more clarification would help though.

yes this is exactly what happened. i selected sleep as i had work open, and after doing this for 4/5 times it decided to updated any way and then shut down meaning i lost all my work
