I've just noticed on the X-Fi drivers I downloaded from the creative site there is no "mic boost" option
(drivers I downloaded - SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0013)

I might try to get some vista drivers to put on as it's really annoying as no-one can hear me on ventrilo :(

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and fixed it?

I'm not sure if the option you are talking about mortals is the same one I use, but I can boost my mic. The way I do it is right-clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray, clicking on recording devices, selecting my microphone and then checking the boost microphone by 20dBs checkbox under one of the tabs.

And thats with an X-Fi card and Windows 7 as well.

cool :)

that seems to be missing on mine for some reason :( what drivers are you using?

Right click the volume icon on the task bar, click on the microphone and click properties, then goto the custom tab the mic boost is there. Using the drivers you are using on Windows 7.

I'm not on my desktop at the moment so I can't tell you the version number, but I'm using the latest ones from Creative's site. I doubt it makes a difference, but I have Creative Console launcher and Creative Alchemy installed as well.

There doesn't seem to be a custom tab there :(

there's just general/listen/levels/advanced

Odd it should be there.

What mode is your XFI in? Mine's in Game mode.
Mine is also set to Game mode in the Creative control panel

Seems really random

I even tried looking in regedit for MicBoost as I saw a few threads on google saying about there being a reg key for it but can't find anything relating to it in my registry :(

Should be selectable in creative console launcher too. Select mic as recording device, and boost is one of the options from the + icon above mic slider.

woo seems to be working :)
(people say they can hear me so that's good enough for me)

still don't have the mic boost option in the normal place but changing the slider to +12dB in the creative launcher

thx for help :D
