win8 help

hi bought win8 with 35 gb on my ssd. when i downloaded it it took it down to 11 so it is no longer allowing my to install it

how come the download took up soo much space?

I assume it's because it creates a copy of your old settings and programs under the windows.old folder which now prevents you from upgrading.

sorry another question, none of the apps on the start menu will connect to the internet. anyone know the problem?

go to the App store, its on the start screen, and it will say if there are any updates needing installed.
Look at top right of screen, click on link for any updates

i click on the app store and it just comes up saying:
your pc isnt connected to the internet. to use the store connect to the internet or try again.

How do you dump that browser choice. I have gone into the updates to uninstall it, and it won't. Then I have gone into C drive, and it won't let me, the reason being, that it keeps popping up everytime I startup.

just noticed on windows updates there are a couple of things to update so with update them n see if it works. fingers crossed

yes i am. can use IE or chrome to browse internet.

Don't know if this applies in your case, Windows apps need a minimum screen resolution to work

just installed the updates no difference still wont connect. and at 1920 x 1080 res

yeh AVG could that be blocking it?

ahh ok just disabled the firewall on AVG n enabled the windows one and it works

wonder why avg blocks it

Not used AVG, maybe needs updated, but Windows 8 already has a basic Antivirus/firewall which could cause conflicts if both are running.
