Win8 remote desktop?

Hi all,

On my server I had Windows home server 2011 which I removed to installed Win 8.1 Pro. All working great apart from I cannot connect via my Mac Mini so I can transfer files over.
I used to use Remote Desktop Connection for Mac before and it worked fine but now I cannot seem to connect to it. I have checked the Windows side of things and it should let RD connections. I can connect through Teamviewer but not anything else.

Any ideas?

I think MS have changed the default security settings on RDP, it uses 128-bit encryption and TLS, any client that does not support those wont be able to RDP to the machine.

TLS can be turned of in the GUI, but to lower the encryption level, you'll have to fiddle around in the local security policy (GPEDIT.msc)
Computer Configuration -> Admin Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Secuity -> Set client connection encryption level = Client Compatible

It turned out to be the onboard hp network card, had to update the drivers as they had issues with win 8.1 and then tried again and working now!
