win8 upgrade have I boo boobed

I have Acer laptop that came with vista hp I removed on purchase and installed 7, I reinstated vista so I could claim win8 upgrade removed it put 7 back on and now want to use the new 8 license on a htpc I have built but it is saying key does not work!!

why is this and what can be done I do not want 8 on my laptop what so ever.

sorry 1st post is a bit muddled but am I allowed to transfer upgrade to new pc is what I was trying to ask

Yes you can and what do you mean doesn't work? Not activating automatically? If so just phone them.

ok I did the regedit and works now but have noticed I have the 32bit version

anyway to get 64bit version?

Download and burn it to disk/usb from a 64bit machine(ie running a 64bit version of windows)

License covers both.

The downloaded just downloads what ever is already on the machine.
