Years ago I actually paid for winamp so I could get full feature set with MP3/ogg/flac etc, and it was reliable and stable.

Nowadays everytime I try to use winamp it crashes, stops the sound working or makes the sound crackly. What the heck has happened to winamp? Used to be so good :(

I've never had any problem with any of the versions of Winamp I've used

What version are you using? Have your tried a fresh install? Updated your sound card drivers?

There's loads of things it could be, but you should be able to fix it :)

Got a x-fi fatal1ty fps that works beautifully, running on XP :) I have tried reinstalling it several times (about 4), to no avail. The first time it worked for about a day, then the next it just died taking all sound with it. Maybe i'll try reinstalling the x-fi drivers.

Maybe I will try a reinstall of xp, but don't see what I should.

I've been using winamp for last 10 years and never had any problems with it. Ive used it on win 98, xp, vista64 etc and it always worked just fine, surely it must be a problem with your system or some application is making the mess with your winamp.

Same for me, a very stable program. Use it all the time for music but not ripping anymore.

Try and find out what the problem is, sounds like drivers or something causing a problem.
