use i tunes

Not such an unhelpful post actually.

In essence what you're doing is using the ipod as a usb memory stick. This won't enter the tracks into its file system and hence you won't have any tracks, just used space. There are other ways to load music on to your ipod, but itunes is by far the simplest. I used winamp since I started listening to music on computers, however since getting an ipod, I've only used itunes. It's a clever move by apple, and I tried to resist it, but actually it makes little overall difference to me whether I use itunes or winamp.

the whole point is you can use winamp to fill an ipod correctly - people on here do it or certainly claimed to have. Now maybe I should have specifically stated I didnt want to use Itunes as I dont particularly like it (even though I hadnt used v7 which does seem better now Ive used it)

I asked a specific question in regards to winamp, if someone blatently doesnt know why bother posting?

ml_ipod plugin is needed if I recall. As said, it sounds like Winamp is currently treating the ipod as a standard removable hard drive.

I assumed you didnt want to use iTunes (and I know how you feel) thats why I linked you to alternative software (Anapod). ;)

btw If your running Vista, iTunes wont work :(

I have tried anapod in the past - thank you

running MCE2005 currently didnt think there was much point installing Vista with only a 7600GS in my 25P

Thanks again
