Winddows "installer" problem

Hello

Had a problem now since last week. When I click on "just about anything", I get the below promt in a Dialogue box

Windows installer.....

Preparing to install....

It happens when i connect to the "internet", and open "Word documents" opening realplayer, other files, some don't prompt an install - others do. Other times it will just come in the background for no reason. I've scanned, Done Virus check, Adaware/Spyware D.R, etc etc. Still does it

Can anyone please help me sort this prob out please

Cheers mishima, tried that (and lots of others), but not solved it yet. Downloaded 3.1 installer from Microsoft, updates and the like, even tried to "repair" windows -but can't seem to get in that mode, as windows starts setting itself up - or asking me to create/delete partitions and so forth.

It happens mainly when I try to start Word/Exell up, or trying to uninstall them(office programs) from add/remove. and also when connecting to the internet, starting spyware up, and "random" others
