OK so I uninstalled the Online Armor free firewall I had cos my PC seemed very slow when using it...also I have an Asus N56U router via Ethernet and also using my Virgin Media Superhub in modem mode....question is do I actually need to have a 3rd party Firewall installed at all or do i just rely on the Windows firewall and my router ?

thanx :)

P.S four PCs in house ..but not networked to each other

In most cases the blocking of unsolicited inbound traffic is probably enough.

You could have a look at:

I use sphix-soft's 'Windows firewall control' on all my machines, (windows 7&8) and can heartily recommend it. It's not an additional firewall, but it lets you know if something wants in or out, and lets you block/unblock with a lot less hassle than the actual window firewall interface.

Perfect for catching nasties, but very irritating for the first couple of hours after installing as the alarm constantly triggers until you set all the permissions :D

The server license is pretty nifty as it lets you restrict access to internet/lan etc independently. Free version works just fine though.
