I have a really really stupid question to ask but i'm now curious.

If i install Window 7 Home Premium using my retail DVD to get a new PC up and running for my parents Can i then procure a Windows 7 home premium OEM DVD and use the OEM code to activate
Windows on their PC?

Im aware fi this works it would still make it an OEM copy thats fine

Well since OEM is meant to be sold with hardware how do you plan on buying it without hardware and then applying it to an install not involving the hardware?

Answer is actually probably not, but I can't be certain but I thought the OEM and retail discs were different.

Yes, that would activate fine. I do something similar when reloading broken Win7 PC's. Install from my disk and activate using the code on the PC case. Obviously, dont enter your code when installing.

The OEM and retail disks are the same. The only thing that determines if it's OEM or retail is the product key itself. Basically, it doesn't matter what disk you use. Using the OEM key will make your parent's PC an OEM install.
