Window Backup & Restore

Hi All

Just a quick one.....will the backup & restore feature make a copy of files that are open/in use?

I ask because I have this setup to make a full system image of my C drive as well as backing up some other file/folders every night, it's 'apparently' been working fine for months now but I need to restore a folder that contains a virtual machine which has been on and running 24/7 but the latest version of this folder I can restore to is dated 20th January?? I was expecting one from the 5th or 6th Feb to be honest? Also FYI, the VM folder was included in both the system image and the general file/folder backup.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the link. I am actually using VMWare server 2 as oppose to Hyper-V and it's running on a W7 machine.

I would have used Hyper-V on my microserver but the Hyper-V role disables GPU acceleration on the AMD card I have in there meaning XBMC chugs with HD content
