Been putting this off for a while, it hasn't changed much over the years but I am conscience that it needs fixing. How bad is it?

I've circled a few other interesting areas.

If thats all the movement since the house was built its probably fine.

How long have you lived there and has it changed. If a short time was it surveyed properly (ie not the cheapest valuation survey)?

I'd say that the lintels have deteriorated more since we moved in 2014, they weren't perfect then. I wonder if the black areas are water damage?

I have a feeling it will be a costly repair.

Yes I agree it mainly looks like water damage to me.
So first call would IMO be to work out whats allowing water to penetrate and deal with it.

Are they metal, and external? A little odd.

Yea metal and external. I suspect the lintels blowing like they have is allowing water into the bricks there.

Normally there would be cavity vents above the lintels allowing water to exit and the cavity to breathe. I suspect that there may be an inch or two of water sitting above the lintel.
