Window resizing xp

when you click on the top right open window it changes size however mine changes to about 1/10th which is far too small the same happens when opening a 2nd window its tiny

Have tried dragging bigger which works but then the same keeps happening when you open 2nd or 3rd window again

Have reset windows which works for a time .

Any ideas please
