Window tinting ... yay or nay?

Doesn't matter, if you like them go for it, I've the rear doors back done on mine in the one down for limo black out - can't remember the % looks good, plus its better for people in the back plus there's the security too.

What year is it? In fact regardless of year I'd be surprised if it looked good

When I see tints I wonder if the owner wishes to be some form of micro celebrity and has the hide from the people

My rear 3 windows are tinted, partly because I think they look good but mostly because it means I don't have to put sun blinds in for the kids :)

My Golf came with the Windows tinted. Not a major fan but it's ok and keeps the sun from glaring too much in the back.

Rear window sun protection is pretty much spec'd on most new cars now. It's harder to buy a car without it.

Have a friend with a BM that doesn't like it, says it makes it harder to park, but then he doesn't like his reversing camera either :o

Anyone tried applying this tint film themselves?

It is a 2011 model. I drive down to Spain a few times a year and especially in the sunmer the heat and the sun can become a pain. I'm not thinking of limo black as that is too dark.

I have a Focus Titanium at the moment and the tints are the darkest I've seen on a car, makes me look like a drug dealer though so people tend to give me a wide berth :D

Tints on my old Fiesta were the same, Ford 'privacy glass' is pretty gangster! :/

Myself I do like tints, helps make a car look slightly 'cleaner' somehow, I don't like them too dark though.

My Jeep came with the rears tinted in 1998. I think it looks OK, makes reversing a pain at night though so I put a "light bar" in the rear bumper that I can switch on and off - makes a big difference.

I toyed with tints. In the end I got OEM spec sun blinds which are great. Cost about the same as tints but can obviously be removed when needed. A black BMW with dark tints was a bit to gangster, especially when your it rocking with a baby seat in the back.

My E36 came with tints on the front window and a 25cm black sun strip on the windscreen. The cupboard under the kitchen sink had more visibility.

Driving at night was just daft. Youd have to be absolultey off your rocker to want to tint the front windows (mirrors the size of small saucers didnt help either)

One vote for yes. I'd recommend the same all around, doesn't look like a van then.

I have "privacy glass" on the E60. Keeps it quite cool in the back, and it means my rear passengers can give the bell ringing sign to whom ever they want :)

I had the rear windscreen and back windows done in limo black on my Mondeo as a colleague had ordered his with the factory tints and I liked it. I would have it done again, but I wouldn't go limo black next time. It was too dark to see well out of, especially at night, made it difficult to see well out of the rear view mirror and too dark in the back of the car generally.

Legally speaking you can't actually tint your front windows because the side windows must let at least 70% light through, and the windscreen 75% light. Generally speaking the glass that manufacturers use in their windows already only let this much light through, so you can't tint them further.
